RECONNECTIONS
quotes and memorable sayings

"Just as there are four elements which make up the World of Form, so are there four
primary modalities which we use to perceive beyond it: Clairvoyance (clear seeing),
Clairaudience (tonal meta-perception), clairsentience (feeling beyond feelings),
and claircognizance (summarial knowing)."

"I didn’t realize how alone I was, until I wasn’t. It is such a relief when great love comes your way after years, lifetimes? without it. Let there be no doubt that all love connections are not created equal. Some bonds are simply practical. Others are blindly rooted in pathology and old traumas. Still others are opportunities to heal and have essential needs finally met. And some have a mystical quality from the first meeting. Pure and simple. Apparent from the first out-breath. Unmistakably sacred. God rising on the wings of their love. This is how the timely and the timeless become indistinguishable- when love meets God deep in the heart’s inner temple."

~Jeff Brown

“Every one of you is really doing the very best he or she can, at any moment of the day. When that movie character, Yoda*, said to Luke Skywalker*: “Either do, or do not. There is no try,” he was literally speaking the truth.

If you could do better you would do better. Any appearance of guilt feelings or struggle, while handling life’s challenges, has more to do with an attempt to sidestep this simple truth, rather than to use it for growth. It’s easier to beat yourself for not doing your “best” than admit momentary powerlessness over a person or event, is it not? And yet, being powerless is part of being in physical form. You refer to life’s restraints as “bonds,” we think of them as “seat belts.”

Please, Dear Ones….let yourselves off the hook! Even if you force the situation, by doing something you desperately wish to avoid, your Magical Manifesting Mind will instantly generate a host of alternative universes where the endeavor fails, in every way it can. No enduring good is derived from swimming against that inner tide. Even so, many of you will still attempt this. You will try and try until you are done trying! Then you will do what you do, and be what you truly are…..which is pretty wonderful, from our point of view!”

"Once upon a time, humanity thought the Earth was flat. If you tried to explain it differently, people just shook their heads at you and said you were crazy. Then, Columbus sailed off to find a "New World" for himself. Presently.............. much of humanity tends to think of Planet Earth as one single, objective, "mass reality." We all live here (i.e. we share it), and where that one Earth goes, everyone must ride along. Spirit now establishes for us that such a concept is every bit as archaic and limited as when we believed that the Earth was flat." (Daniel Jacob)

"People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you’ll KNOW tomorrow...."
(Agent K, "Men in Black" movie)

"It is wise, when possible, to avoid looking at things HEAD ON. Not only does it make animals nervous, but it blocks expanded, intuitive perception. Whenever possible, look askance---above, below, or off to the side. Not only will you notice what IS there....you may also pick up what was or could be there, too."

"It is utterly false and cruelly arbitrary to put all the play and learning into childhood, all the work into middle age, and all the regrets into old age."

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

-Marianne Williamson

“If you feel perpetually undecided about life, move out of your head and into your body.  Make a decision (any decision) and begin moving.  Trust your natural inclinations.  It’s far easier to make course corrections for a vehicle in motion than one that is standing still.”

“If desire causes suffering it may be
because we do not desire wisely, or that we are inexpert
at obtaining what we desire. Instead of hiding our heads

why not get better at fulfilling desire?

I don't want salvation I want life, all of life ..........I will

delicious things were placed here merely to test us

fashion of life such a petty game is unworthy of both
men and gods."

If I am to know God directly I must become completely God and God I so that this God and I become one. As pear seeds produce pears and nut seeds produce nut trees, God seeds produce Gods.

“Your lack of readiness is an illusion communicated by shame-ridden parts of you that will forever have you believing that you have to take a few more steps until your real life begins.  It’s an illusion of epic proportions. Get to it brilliant being. There is no need to procrastinate the gateway to wholeness—it stands before you with your name on it. The world is ready for what you have to offer. No time like the presence.”

I always like to keep alert to what my natural inclinations are. The body is an excellent barometer of honest, authentic flow. As I begin to follow those inclinations---the mind will frequently begin presenting a host of things "I should be doing" or "have to get done." The louder the ruckus in my mind, the more certain I become that my body is subtly trying to show me something wonderful. To break patterns, and forge new paths. As guilt and doubt begin to crowd around me, as I follow that energy on the way.......I've learned to become quite certain that hidden treasure lies ahead!

“The best thing for being sad," replied Merlin, beginning to puff and blow, "is to learn something. That's the only thing that never fails. You may grow old and trembling in your anatomies, you may lie awake at night listening to the disorder of your veins, you may miss your only love, you may see the world about you devastated by evil lunatics, or know your honour trampled in the sewers of baser minds. There is only one thing for it then — to learn. Learn why the world wags and what wags it. That is the only thing which the mind can never exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never dream of regretting. Learning is the only thing for you. Look what a lot of things there are to learn.”

"Poverty, as a spiritual practice is far more Piscean than Aquarian in its precepts.  We’re moving out of the paradigm of “self-sacrifice,” into a totally new freedom in realizing SELF (including ego) as a joyous part of the ONE---with nothing to prove and no special impressions required. Ecstasy is our Next Level! Purposeful Poverty (to me) is just another form of “show business”…….a remnant of another Age, another focus.  It isn’t wrong, by any means. I suppose the Aquarian Equivalent for Poverty would be SIMPLICITY---which is quite utilitarian in its expression, and quite useful for those who choose to travel “light.”  Many who choose a life of poverty these days are like publicans, praying in the streets.  Not all, but many!!  It can seem ornate and compelling.  It may even be impressive.  But necessary?  Hardly.  Go home. Pray in secret." Suffer in private, if you must! Now is a time for celebration……a time when the world is RIPE for learning how to taste the “good stuff” in life……letting go of pain and hardship.  If there is anything a person might wish to give up for “lent”…..so to speak….it would be suffering.  Such a “sacrifice” would be pleasing, indeed, to the GODS…wherever we may dwell, and however we choose to manifest."

“Real isn't how you are made,' said the Skin Horse. 'It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.'

'Does it hurt?' asked ...the Rabbit.

'Sometimes,' said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. 'When you are Real you don't mind being hurt.'

'Does it happen all at once, like being wound up,' he asked, 'or bit by bit?'

'It doesn't happen all at once,' said the Skin Horse. 'You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand.”

“If you observe a really happy man you will find him building a boat, writing a symphony, educating his son, growing double dahlias in his garden, or looking for dinosaur eggs in the Gobi desert. He will not be searching for happiness as if it were a collar button that has rolled under the radiator. He will not be striving for it as a goal in itself. He will have become aware that he is happy in the course of living life twenty-four crowded hours of the day.”

"The Art of Remembering is balanced and enhanced by the Art of Forgetting. In and out, across time - you weave your consciousness through a panoply of universes (constructs)--becoming something (or someone) new with each twist and turn of your beautiful mind! You do not do this merely as an individual - even though everything you see around you may give that impression. Rather, you do this as an entire universe. You do it as a Collective Oneself. And we are always here with you, holding onto the remainder of your knowledge and abilities. “In mysticism that love of truth which we saw as the beginning of all philosophy leaves the merely intellectual sphere, and takes on the assured aspect of a personal passion. Where the philosopher guesses and argues, the mystic lives and looks; and speaks, consequently, the disconcerting language of first-hand experience, not the neat dialectic of the schools. Hence whilst the Absolute of the metaphysicians remains a diagram —impersonal and unattainable—the Absolute of the mystics is lovable, attainable, alive.”

"When a country obtains great power,

 it becomes like the sea:

all streams run downward into it.

 The more powerful it grows,

the greater the need for humility.

 Humility means trusting the tao,

thus never needing to be defensive.

A great nation is like a great man:

when he makes a mistake, he realizes it.

Having realized it, he admits it.

Having admitted it, he corrects it.

He considers those who point out his faults

 as his most benevolent teachers.

 He thinks of his enemy

as the shadow that he himself casts.

if it nourishes its own people

and doesn't meddle in the affairs of others,

it will be a light to all nations in the world.

The Second Coming

Turning and turning in the widening gyre

 The falcon cannot hear the falconer;

 Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;

Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,

The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere

 The ceremony of innocence is drowned;

The best lack all conviction, while the worst

 Are full of passionate intensity.

 Surely some revelation is at hand;

Surely the Second Coming is at hand.

The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out

When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi

Troubles my sight: somewhere in the sands of the desert

A shape with lion body and the head of a man,

A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,

Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it

Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.

The darkness drops again; but now I know

That twenty centuries of stony sleep

Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,

And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,

Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

William Butler Yeats (1865-1939)

"For That, by which we
See all colours,
Taste all flavours,
Smell all sounds,
And feel the touch of our beloved,
That is the Self.

This Self alone is the experiencer
Of all experiences,
It is the sustainer of all life,
And the ruler of time itself.
Who knows this Self
Rejects nothing and fears no-one.

This Self is the ultimate Reality:
That which was before creation
And from which creation was born.
Yet who sees this Self
Sees it resting in the hearts of all.

From this Self flows
Both the energy and the infinity
Which brought into being
The original creation,

This Self enters the hearts
Of all that are born of it.

Who sees this
Sees the Self....... becomes the Self."

PAIN

"Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your  understanding.
Even as the stone of the fruit must break,
that its heart may stand in the sun, so must you know pain.

And could you keep your heart in wonder at the daily miracles
of your life, your pain would not seem less wondrous than
your joy; and you would accept the seasons of your heart,
even as you have always accepted the seasons that pass over
your fields.

And you would watch with serenity through the winters of your
grief....  And the cup he brings, though it burn your lips, has been
fashioned of the clay which the Potter has moistened with His own sacred tears."

Four Brothers

With the birth of the white buffalo, the final set of prophecies near fulfillment. Soon a great spiritual awakening will begin.

Slowly, at first, the spirit of mankind will begin it's transmutation. "The soul will remember..." Whereas we once were of one power, so shall we be again. Whereas we were one body with one voice, and became many bodies with many voices, we will become many bodies with one voice.

"Witness hereunto the proliferation of "god' as "god' is known.. "The lines of energy that permeate, quadrate, parallel, transfix, and disperse throughout the entire material, astral, and ethereal planes are in the process of COMING INTO HARMONY.

In the history of my people, there is a story of four brothers that set out on a trek to gain wisdom and understanding of the four elemental powers that combine to become the one true power:

To the Yellow-skinned race, the elemental power of air was given as quest. This is the power of wisdom itself. They would learn that the power of the air was of the mind. Oneness with the element of air was, to them, oneness with self through the power of the mind.

To the Black-skinned people, the element of wisdom was fire: the power of the physical body. The oneness that they sought was oneness of structure, rites of fertility, the manipulation of the physical aspect of the prime material. (They were building pyramids when the majority of us were living in caves.)

To the white-skinned people, the element of water lent it's power of aesthetics, as well as the chaotic factor of criticism. Oneness to them became beauty, rhetoric, and emotional religion.

And to the Red-skinned people, was given the charge of the element of earth. They found that oneness was the power of the earth. The earth is your mother, all things have spirit. Ne-uii-aeo - the breath we all take.

The story goes on to say that the brothers would one day come back together. To insure the original intention would remain clear, they agreed that when their descendants were ready to reunite, that the spirits of the four brothers would speak to the hearts of the children in dreams and visions and tell them when the time was approaching. They would then be prepared when the four brothers picked up the four corners of the veil that shrouds the earth from the spirit world, and tear it asunder."

Ultimate Journey

 RETURN TO LIFE

I waken
And nothing is the same.
For the first time,
I open my eyes,
These eyes of mine
I long believed could see
And find that all I knew as true
Was nothing but a false dream.

Then, like a radiant star
The angel of Death
The Angel of Life became
And transformed my dream
From a drama of fear
To a joyful comedy.

So surprised, I ask the Angel,
"Am I dead?"
She replies,
"Yes, for these many years,
Though your heart beat on,
Your mind slept in the grave of illusion
Unconscious of your divinity."

"Now, with heart beating
And body breathing,
Your mind has wakened from hell.
Renewed, your eyes
Admire the beauty awaiting you."

"Your divine awareness wakens
All the love in your being.
Hating and fearing forsaken,
Gone are the guilt and the blame.
Your soul forgives,
Your divinity lives."

My eyes, in fascination,
Stare at the Angel.
Sensing the truth waking in me.
I surrender, willingly,
Without condition.
Humbly receiving
Death and life,
To hell, I release all claim
And with new eyes,
See my eternal love....leaving.

“Beyond Fear”

All emotions are pure which gather you and lift you up: that emotion is impure which seizes only ONE side of your being and so distorts you.

Everything that you can think in the face of your childhood is right.  Everything that makes MORE of you than you have heretofore been in your best hours is right.

Every heightening is good if it is in your WHOLE blood, if it is not intoxication, not turbidity, but JOY which one can see clear to the bottom.  Do you understand what I mean?

-- Rainer Maria Rilke, August 12, 1904.

"You know, beloved people, your soul energy is not simply locked into what is here or what you would imagine to be the next dimension. Soul energy runs through all of the dimensions and it is not even what you would imagine to be human. In this aspect it is human. It is expressing itself in human form.  However, so grand are you that you also express in many, many other forms  and in all of the dimensions!"

From "the Dancing Wu Li Masters" by Gary Zukav (1979)

"One of the greatest physicists of all, Albert Einstein, was perhaps a Wu Li Master.  In 1938 he wrote:
~~~
Physical concepts are free creations of the human mind, and are not, however it may seem, uniquely determined by the external world.  In our endeavor to understand reality we are somewhat like a man trying to understand the mechanism of a closed watch.  He sees the face and the moving hands, even hears its ticking, but he has no way of opening the case.  If he is ingenious he may form some picture of a mechanism which could be responsible for all the things he observes, but he may never be quite sure his picture is the only one which could explain his observations.  He will never be able to compare his picture with the real mechanism and he cannot even imagine the possibility of the meaning of such a comparison.
~~~
Most people believe that physicists are explaining the world.  Some physicists even believe that, but the Wu Li Masters know that they are only dancing with it."

"Out of evil, much good has come to me. By keeping quiet, repressing nothing, remaining attentive, and by accepting reality---taking things as they are, and not as I wanted them to be---by doing all this, unusual knowledge has come to me, and unusual powers as well, such as I could never have imagined before. I always thought that when we accepted things they overpowered us in some way or other. This turns out not to be true at all, and it is only by accepting them that one can assume an attitude towards them. So now I intend to play the game of life, being receptive to whatever comes to me, good and bad, sun and shadow forever alternating, and in this way also accepting my own nature with its positive and negative sides...Thus everything becomes more alive to me. What a fool I was! How I tried to force everything to go according to the way I felt it ought to go."

Letter from a grateful patient to Dr. Carl Jung.

AUTHENTICITY

"Authenticity, I have found, comes from a combination of
engaging your talents, loves, and gifts; being autonomous
(self-directed); and relating to your external world in your
way- not as a copy of someone or something else.

--Anonymous

So what is it that makes authenticity so desirable? Why
bother? When you strive to find and be your authentic self,
you gain a certain control. The world continues to spin
around and around throwing your days out of whack but you, authentic you, remain in balance. You stand ready from a central point of self control able to make decisions by considering those facets important to you. You find
satisfaction and contentment through being and acting
authentic. Even, especially, in times of chaos, you know
where you stand because you are in control of your self."

--Jane Miller

".....allow everyone to hold firmly to that which he believes and that which makes him happy and content. If everyone would adhere to this principle and make it his own, there would be neither hatred nor religious discord.  There would be no reason for differences of opinion and all philosophies or all religions could co-exist happily."

"What if you slept,
And what if, in your sleep you Dreamed?
And what if, in your Dream,

               "Your life and my life
flow into each other as wave flows into wave,
and unless there is peace and joy and freedom for you
there can be no real peace or joy or freedom for me.
To see reality--not as we expect it to be but as it is--
is to see that unless we live for each other
and in and through each other,
               we do not really live very satisfactorily;
that there can really be life only where there really is,
               in just this sense, love."

Searching the Dark Places

"This is what it is all about...hitting on some deeper energy within the self that will utilize that wonderful sexual energy (driver) to fuel greater search into the oneself...I think when we do that we come to such great depth of understanding and at the same time, we are able to walk around in the dark for awhile with the only flashLIGHT being ourselves!!!...That is what is so difficult for people who associate 'negativity' with darkness....as darkness is only the unseen part of the oneself...nothing more and nothing less...and it is encouraged to reach full consciousness in our spiritual warriorism...no matter which philosophy we are following...If we stay in this great LIGHT awareness, then if we stay totally in our heads and forget the rest of our bodies!!!

           And they flew.

THE POWER OF THREE

"The Tao begets the one,
The one begets the two,
The two beget the three and
The three beget the ten thousand things.
All things are backed by the shade,
 Faced by the light
And harmonized by the immaterial breath."

Lao Tzu: Tao Te Ching.

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.  It is our light, not our darkness that frightens us.

We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?

Actually, who are we not to be?

You are a child of God.

Your playing small doesn't serve the world.

There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.

It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fears, our presence automatically liberates others."

Nelson Mandela.  Inaugural Address, 1994.

"Self is everywhere, shining forth from all beings,
vaster than the vast, subtler than the most subtle,
unreachable, yet nearer than breath, than heartbeat.

Eye cannot see it, ear cannot hear nor tongue utter it;
only in deep absorption can the mind, grown pure and silent,
merge with the formless truth.

He who finds it is free; he has found himself;
he has solved the great riddle; his heart is forever at peace.

Whole, he enters the Whole.

Perceiving the truth, he becomes the truth;
he passes beyond all suffering, beyond death;
all the knots of his heart are loosed."

The gift and the giver are one.
The giver and the receiver are one.
The question and the answer are one.
The cause and the effect are one.
The supply and the demand are one.
The desire and that which is desired are one.
The seeker and the that which is sought are one.
The aspiration and that which is aspired to are one.
The lover and the beloved are one.
The tormentor and the tormented are one.
Spirit, soul, body, higher self, lower self, and merkaba are one.
The earth and all the biology upon it are one.
There is only One, and we are one with the One.
We are but seeming parts of the indivisible whole expressing, and
All that we give we give to ourself,
the One.

From Notes by W. B. Yeats on his writings:

"At first, we are subject to Destiny.  But the point in the Zodiac where the whirl becomes a sphere once reached, we may escape from the constraint of our nature and from the nature of external things.  Entering upon a state where all fuel has become flame, where there is nothing but the state itself, nothing to constrain it or end it.  We attain it always in the creation or enjoyment of a work of art, but that moment......though eternal in the  Daimon....passes from us because it is not an attainment of our whole being........"

Ego Manipulation

"The thing that comes to mind is that we are dealing with energies that will not be manipulated from the ego point of power. When we try to do that we restrict and alienate our own selves from the true meaningful and powerful energies we want to be riding.  As Shamans, manipulation of this power is an important issue for us to deal with, and get over with............."

Antonio Kos

All truth passes through three stages.

First, it is ridiculed, second it is violently opposed, and third, it is accepted as self-evident."

Arthur Schopenhauer, Philosopher, 1788-1860

"An inflated consciousness is always egocentric and conscious of nothing but its own existence.  It is incapable of learning from the past, incapable of understanding contemporary events, and incapable of drawing right conclusions about the future.  It is hypnotized by itself, and therefore cannot be argued with.  It inevitably dooms itself to calamities that must strike it dead.  Paradoxically enough, inflation is regression of consciousness into unconsciousness.  This always happens when consciousness takes too many unconscious contents upon itself and loses the faculty of discrimination, the sine qua non of all consciousness. When fate, for four whole years, played out a war of monumental frightfulness on the stage of Europe--a war that nobody wanted, nobody dreamed of asking exactly who or what had caused the war and its continuation.  Nobody realized that European man was possessed by something that robbed him of all free will. And this state of unconscious possession will continue, undeterred, until we Europeans become scared of our "god-almightyness."  Such a change can begin only with individuals....It seems to me of some importance, therefore, that a few individuals, or people individually, should begin to understand that there are contents which do not belong to the ego-personality, but must be ascribed to a psychic non-ego.  This mental operation has to be undertaken if we want to avoid a threatening inflation.  To help us, we have the useful and edifying models held up to us by poets and philosophers--models or archetypi that we may call remedies for both the men and the times.  Of course, what we discover there is nothing that can be held up to the masses--only some hidden thing that we can hold up to ourselves in solitude and in silence.  But it is so much easier to preach the universal panacea to everybody else than to take it oneself, and as we all know, things are never so bad when everybody is in the same boat.  No doubts can exist in the herd; the bigger the crowd the better the truth--and the greater the catastrophe."

Carl Jung, Psychology and Alchemy

I have become what before Time I was.
A secret touch has quieted thought and sense:  All things by the agent Mind created pass Into a void and mute magnificence.

My life is a silence grasped by timeless hands;
The world is drowned in an immortal gaze.
Naked my spirit from its vestures stands;
I am alone with my own self for space.

My heart is a center of infinity,
My body a dot in the soul's vast expanse.
All being's huge abyss wakes under me,
Once screened in a gigantic Ignorance.

A momentless immensity pure and bare,
I stretch to an eternal everywhere.
